What satisfaction do you yearn for?
NEHITA’S THOUGHTS
Every person in the world wants to know what will make him or her happy, we are all desperately seeking that one person, place, or thing that will meet our expectations, needs, and wants.
We find solace in imagining and fantasizing when we finally get that one thing that we feel will bring happiness and peace to our hearts that we fail to realize the short joy we get from these things. Let’s be practical;
Remember when you wanted that job so bad that you felt you can get the job or whatever you were asking for you will be the happiest person on earth, what happened after you got it?
Like me I was so happy I felt it was over. Don’t get me wrong getting what you prayed for is a thing to be grateful to God for but I’m getting to my point.
So I was extremely happy I started going to work, I was finally part of the working class, as time went on I started getting discouraged thinking about the things I didn’t have and also don’t forget the issues that come with working with people especially when your boss annoys you or a percentage is being deducted from your salary. In that state, I went back to my previous mood praying for a better job.
At the point the devil sets in telling you, you are better than this, your mates have better jobs and then you go back to your previous state of seeking more, instead of being grateful for your are now. This brings us to the saying that humans are never satisfied, we are guilty of this all the time.
Don’t you want to be in that state where you want to say ‘thank you Jesus’ in every situation, a state where you cut the nerve of grumbling and the thought of Jesus gladdens your heart that no matter what the joy of the Lord strengthens you, where, when you face challenges (work, school, business etc…) and still you are calm because you know that God gat you.
In his word, he said he will not leave you nor forsake you that it would be a dishonor to his name for it has pleases him to call you his own (1sam 12 vs 22). The question is how do we get to this state? We get here when we are satisfied with Christ.
True satisfaction comes from Jesus alone, cause the joy that comes with the new job, money, cool friends, relationships, clothes, and gadgets will leave us satisfied for a while, and then we need more. There’s someone greater than people or possessions that can truly satisfy us. Jesus exceeds our expectations, provides for our needs, and fulfills our desires. You don’t understand the joy that comes with being satisfied in Jesus, that Joy is just there cause you believe in him and his word.
